Work on 1000 word Essay

Today in class Mr. Schick was not here was he assigned us to work on our 1000 word essay which our group finished most of our 1st paragraph and were able to be pretty successful. We will continue to work on this project tomorrow and over the weekend, and finish it up and ready to hang in Tuesday. I will start to watch the video in order to be ready for the test.

Gods, Athens, and Sparta

Today in class we went over another power point....

-Gods had interactions with humans
-Gods were like humans in terms of feelings and emotions
-Zeus- The ruler of Heaven and Earth
-Athena- God of wisdom, peace, and battle strategy
-Apollo- God of music, arts, knowledge, & healing
-Poseidon- God of the Sea, rivers, and Oceans
-Aphrodite- God of love, beauty, and desire
-Demeter- God of grain, harvest, and agriculture

The Fighting Spartans
-Sparta known for fighting on land, tough, and ruthless infantry
-Boys Trained since they were 7

Athens
-Naval power, most effective weapon was the Trireme
-Trireme- Technological marvel, Fastest during that time period, could hold 170 people, had 3 levels, and it was also agile and fast
-The Phalanx fighting style was a strategy that aliened people with shields and long swords

Philosopherapaloza- Socrates
-Looked to science & logic (not Gods)
-Socratic Method fostered critical thinking
-The unexampled life is not worth living."
-He was changed with serious crimes

1000 Word Essay

In today's class we didn't take any notes from a power point or watch a movie on Greece, we simply went over the rules and rubric for a 5000 word essay which in term would help us write our 1000 word essay which is between the 3 people in our group. I feel like after going over that essay with the setup of the introduction in the first paragraph which is where you introduce your topic, I feel like I can understand it a little bit more now which will help me write my essay. I feel like I will be a able to do good on this because I will be able to combine my prior knowledge of writing essays and this example of how to write a 5000 one. After seeing this our group should split it up evenly

-Doric columns are very sturdy

-Isagoras had support from some fellow aristocrats as well as from Sparta
-Cleisthenes had supports of the majority of Athens

-Isagoras becomes (Tyrant)

Project

Today in class we basically just worked on our projects and finish those up. I was unforchantely only able to help with the citations because I was at a basketball tournament but I trust that Luke and Tucker did a good Job. Other than working on our project we didn't do to much else, one thing that did happen though was that we recieved our pop quizzes back which I did pretty good compared to others. I got a 8 out orf 10 which is good and solid but not great for a quiz I didnt know was coming.
